Wellness Consulting is a collaborative, goal-oriented process where a trained consultant partners with clients to optimize their overall health and wellbeing. At Sage Consulting, I take a holistic, forward-focused approach that addresses physical health, lifestyle factors, preventive care, and health advocacy. I provide education, help set and achieve concrete wellness goals, offer accountability and support, and empower clients to navigate the healthcare system effectively.
For midlife women specifically, Sage Consulting addresses the unique health challenges of this life stage through education, guidance in navigating complex healthcare systems, support in implementing wellness goals, and advocacy training to ensure clients receive the medical attention and respect they deserve from their healthcare providers.
My mission is to partner with women in this journey. Your unique personal context is what matters most, this is your life and your health. You are not alone.

Sage Consulting is designed for women navigating the midlife transition, typically between their late 30s and early 60s. This includes women in perimenopause (the years leading up to menopause when hormone changes begin), menopause itself, and postmenopause (the years following menopause).
You might benefit from working with me if you're experiencing physical, emotional, or cognitive changes that feel confusing or overwhelming, if you're struggling to get clear answers from your healthcare providers, if you're managing multiple health concerns and need help coordinating care, or if you simply want proactive support in optimizing your health during this life stage.
My clients come from all backgrounds and situations. Some are dealing with specific symptoms, while others are taking a preventive approach to their health. What unites them is a desire to feel empowered, informed, and supported during midlife.

Talk therapy focuses on exploring your inner world such as processing emotions, understanding patterns, and working through psychological distress. A psychologist helps you make sense of your feelings and experiences, often examining how your past affects your present. This work is primarily emotional and cognitive, centered on mental health symptoms or personal growth through psychological insight. In talk therapy, you might address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, or life transitions from a psychological perspective. There's a medical evaluation and diagnosis as well as clear professional boundaries between the clinician and the patient.
At Sage Consulting, I take an action-oriented and advocacy-focused approach. I serve as a navigator and strategist for your overall health journey during midlife, a time when women's health concerns are often dismissed or undertreated. While there likely will be casual conversations about your general mental well-being, I focus on current needs and goals. This approach is practical, educational, and collaborative rather than therapeutic in the traditional sense. You're building skills, gaining knowledge, and taking concrete action to improve your health, not just processing feelings. I want to empower you to take charge of your health during a critical life stage, bridging the gap between you and the healthcare system.

This is a great question, and an important distinction. I am not providing therapy services through Sage Consulting, and wellness consulting is not therapy. While my background includes training in psychology, the work we do together is forward-focused and goal-oriented, collaborative problem-solving, and strategic support for your health and wellness journey, rather than clinical treatment.
If you are experiencing a mental health condition that requires diagnosis or therapeutic treatment, I will always encourage you to work with a licensed mental health provider, and I'm happy to help you think through how to find the right support. For many clients, wellness consulting works beautifully alongside therapy. Consulting is a different kind of help for a different kind of need.

Wellness Consulting is not medical care. At Sage Consulting, I do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe treatments, or replace the care provided by physicians and other licensed medical professionals. Instead, I work alongside a client's existing healthcare team, helping clients understand their health information, communicate effectively with their providers, implement lifestyle recommendations, and advocate for appropriate medical care. The focus is on building sustainable health practices, enhancing quality of life, and helping clients become informed partners in their own healthcare. Sage Consulting does not provide medical treatment or diagnosis.
-
No, many of my clients come to me precisely because they're still trying to figure out where to start. If you don't have a primary care doctor, OBGYN, or relevant specialists yet, that's something I can help with. Part of my work involves identifying what types of providers you need, finding qualified professionals who understand midlife women's health, and coaching you on how to build those relationships.
If you're experiencing symptoms but don't yet have a diagnosis, I can help you track and document what you're noticing, prepare you to communicate clearly with providers, and advocate for appropriate testing. Many women find this support significantly shortens the time it takes to get answers.
And if you do have an established healthcare team? That's great too. I'll help you maximize those relationships, identify any gaps in your care, and support you in implementing what your providers recommend. Wherever you are in your health journey, I can meet you there.

Every appointment begins with a check-in: what's changed, what's come up, and how things have been since we last met. From there, we review any progress on goals or action steps and shift into the heart of the work: whatever matters most to you right now. That might mean preparing for an upcoming medical appointment, understanding a new diagnosis, building out a lifestyle change, or problem-solving an obstacle that's gotten in your way. We'll close every appointment with clear, concrete next steps so you always leave knowing exactly what you're working toward.
The tone is collaborative, not clinical. You're the expert on your life and your body and I bring expertise in midlife health, healthcare navigation, and behavior change. I keep everything organized, tracking your progress, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Progress looks different for everyone. From the start, we will establish clear, measurable goals such as scheduling key medical appointments, implementing a sleep routine, or having a productive conversation with your doctor about hormone therapy. Achieving those concrete milestones is one of the most reliable ways to see that the work is paying off.
Beyond the checkboxes, many clients notice subtler but equally important shifts: feeling less anxious about their health, more confident in medical settings, or simply more hopeful. And if your providers are taking you more seriously, running appropriate tests, or listening better, that's a sign the advocacy work is having an impact too.
Progress here is not always measured by symptom reduction. Sometimes it looks like finally having a name for what you've been experiencing, finding a provider who actually listens, or feeling equipped to navigate a hard diagnosis. Those are real and meaningful wins.
I'll regularly check in on how our work feels to you and adjust if something isn't landing. Your feedback is essential to our partnership and I want it to be genuinely useful to you.
-
Absolutely. When we work on building your healthcare team, I'll factor in your insurance coverage and do my best to identify strong providers within your network. I can offer referrals based on your plan, location, and specific needs, and I know which providers in the area are particularly skilled with perimenopause and menopause care, listen well to patients, and have availability for new patients.
That said, insurance networks change frequently, so you'll always need to verify directly with both the provider's office and your insurance company that they're currently in-network before scheduling. That final verification step is essential and something I'll coach you through if needed.
It's also worth knowing that finding excellent midlife women's health specialists who take insurance can be challenging, particularly for certain specialties. If that's the case, we will talk through your options which might include out-of-network providers if that's feasible, or strong alternatives within your network.

Generally, no, and here’s why:
As a wellness consultant rather than a treating medical provider, I don't have the same standing in your care that your physicians or therapists do, and most medical offices aren't set up to coordinate with consultants. Adding another voice to the communication chain can also slow things down rather than help.
What I do instead is equip you to be an exceptionally effective advocate for yourself. That means preparing you thoroughly for appointments, helping you develop the right questions, drafting follow-up emails to your providers, organizing your health history and symptom tracking, and debriefing with you after visits so nothing falls through the cracks. In most cases, direct communication from you as the patient carries more weight and the self-advocacy skills you build here will serve you in every healthcare interaction, long after our work together ends.
There are a few exceptions: if I'm facilitating a referral or coordinating with a provider who is open to collaboration (such as a therapist), I may occasionally reach out with your explicit permission. But this is the exception, not the rule.

No, wellness consulting is not covered by insurance, and you'll be responsible for all service fees directly. This is because consulting is educational, strategic, and advocacy-focused rather than diagnostic or treatment-based, which places it outside what insurance companies cover.
In practical terms, you'll pay out-of-pocket for services. I offer both individual appointments and packages to provide flexibility, and I'm happy to discuss pricing during your free 15-minute consultation to find an approach that works for your budget.
It's worth noting that while consulting itself isn't covered, our work together can help you get more out of your insurance benefits. This happens by finding in-network specialists, preparing you to make the most of covered appointments, and making sure you're receiving all the care your plan should be covering.

All appointments are held virtually, which means you can work with me from the comfort of your own home in a private, quiet space where you can show up fully. Virtual sessions have the added benefit of fitting more easily into busy schedules, and many clients find that they actually feel more at ease in their own environment. You'll receive a secure video link prior to each appointment.

Yes, however it is important for clients to note that confidentiality is really about two separate issues:
Legal confidentiality is a protection established by law for specific licensed professions like psychologists, physicians, and attorneys. These professionals have a legal duty to protect client information, and clients have legally recognized privilege. This means that in most cases, their communications cannot be compelled in court. Breaking legal confidentiality can result in lawsuits, loss of licensure, and other legal consequences.
Ethical confidentiality in wellness consulting means that I have a professional and moral obligation to protect client information, but this protection isn't backed by law. If, for example, I am subpoenaed or legally compelled to share information, I don't have the legal standing to refuse the way a psychologist would with privileged communication.
What this means for Sage Consulting clients:
I keep client information private and confidential as part of my ethical practices.
However, clients should understand that communications with me do not have the same legal protections as therapy or medical care.
In legal proceedings, I could be required to disclose client information.
My specific practices, considerations, and protective measures are clearly outlined in my consent forms and will be discussed in detail with you during our consultation.
